The EC 1978.
1. The public authorities shall ensure the social, economic and legal status of the family.
2. The public authorities likewise ensure comprehensive protection of children, equal before the law regardless of their parentage, and mothers, regardless of their marital status. The law allows the investigation of paternity.
3. Parents must provide assistance of every kind to the children born in or out of wedlock, during minority of age and in other cases in which law is applicable.
4. All children shall enjoy the protection provided for in international agreements which safeguard their rights.
